France is facing a number of travel strikes that will affect the country this weekend.Thousands of holidaymakers are expected to be affected thanks to the announcement of SNCF train strikes on Saturday and Sunday.The Foreign Office has issued a travel warning for France in light of this.They advise: “There are planned strikes on SNCF trains on 6 and 7 July. You should check with your train operator for updates before travelling and allow extra time for your journey.”Due to this, the roads in the surrounding area are expected to be much busier than usual.While British holidaymakers still have a few more weeks until the summer holidays start, French schools break up on 5 July.According to the Independent, the main road traffic routes will be “very difficult” according to a traffic calendar when travelling from Paris.The SNCF train strikes have been happening since April 2018, and it is the longest train strike in more than thirty years.It is set to continue into the summer, causing misery to more travellers in France.They are striking against the planned modernisation and allowing competition against the network.The Eurostar is currently unaffected and trains have not been cancelled to and from Paris.Britons attempting to drive through ....
